Old MacDonald

Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O
And on that farm, he had… a PIG!  E-I-E-I-O
With an oink oink here and an oink oink there
Here an oink there an oink everywhere an oink oink
Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O

Old MacDonald had a Farm, Dada & Griffin Ignash

Oh Donald, Dada! Oh Donald, Pleeeeeease! Is something heard on a nightly basis coming from the little smiling face of my son as he snuggles into bed and lays his head on the pillow. Griffin, or as I have affectionately call him “Bubba”, something I have done to the dismay of my wife, since the day of his birth, has not quite mastered the entire title of the song “Old MacDonald” which makes the request that much more adorable, and impossible to turn down. He prefers all of the lyrics to this masterpiece be sung by yours truly, except of course when it comes to selecting the animal, selecting the animal is, as he will let me know “Bubba’s job”, and the animal of choice 9 times out of 10 is a pig. The boy loves to yell out “a PIG!!!” and then laugh as I comment “wow, Old MacDonald has a lot of pigs.”  His laugh is infectious, so we both lie there laughing until finally I am able to regain the necessary breath to push out “with an oink oink here and an oink oink there, here an oink, there an oink, everywhere an oink, oink”, as he again yells out “a PIG dada, a PIG!”

This has become one of the very favorite parts of this amazing thing called life. I am sure he is never going to remember this special time we are sharing together, but it is going to be one of my most treasured memories and I can foresee a day in the distant future when I will hear “Oh, Donald” and be transported right back to his bedroom, lying there on his little Thomas the Train bed singing to him with one of the worst singing voices of all time, yet him so elated to be spending time with his dada.
